It's snowed all night, and apparently it got cold enough to let some of it stick! Sooo...pretty cool. But no one thinks it's as cool as Luna. She can't get enough of watching the snow. My cat is obsessed.

Not a whole lot going on really...
Taking next week off to go see my parents in Portland, which I'm pretty excited about. The only lame thing is....is that they're not taking off two of the days I'm there....so what am I supposed to do? I'm gonna have to do some searching online to see if there's anything awesome I can do alone.
Sooo...I hung up this bird feeder on our balcony so that the cats can watch and go nuts. It rules. Here's a pic of Luna scoping it out.

omgosh!
I've been wanting to get back into blogging so here I am....with crashtext's help. thanks thanks and much many mucho more thanks.
Anyway...the other day I made banana soy smoothies and they ruled.

Well the snow is finally starting to melt. good. i'm sickkkk of being cold! Especially last thursday when the windchill was up, the actual "feels like" temperature was 3 degrees!!! eeeeeeeeeeeek. so cold.
Luna's little eye problem is all better. I was looking at her a few days ago (as i tend to do...) and one of her eyes was green! After spending $50 on a leukemia test alone, they came to the conclusion that it was only an infection. so every 8-12 hrs we have to give her eye and mouth drops. lucky her!
Lately i've become pretty obsessed with cooking. If you're into good, awesome, easy to make food....vegan or not, check out this cookbook. Every recipe is accompanied with some usually VERY obscure metal/crust/punk song. Amazing.

haaaaaaaaaaa just kidding. cooking is the best thing EVER.
During our trip to Portland I picked up "Please Don't Feed the Bears" at the Herbivore store....and holy shit. I've only gotten through 25 pages of the book and have written an insanely long grocery list. I finally had to section off what ingredients were for what recipe so I didn't blow all my money and buy everything at once. BUT I had all the items to make this AWESOME pasta sauce.
1/2 lb firm tofu
1 tbsp yellow mustard
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 clove garlic
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tbsp nutrional yeast
3/4 cup vegetable broth (I just boiled 3/4 cup water and stuck half a veggie bouillon cube in there)
puree in blender and serve over noodles.
arghhhhhhhhhhh soooooo good.

trans-siberian orchestra is so so cool...until you hear it with vocals..then BADDDDD. bad bad bad bad.
i'm listening to "christmas" songs on last-fm...and the best part is when they throw in random songs by like SOIL and so on. yea. best part.
anyway, the job doesn't pay as much as I thought it would but i'm still taking it. it's worth it.
there has been an ice storm in Kansas City since yesterday and I have today off work so Mitch and I went outside and took pictures....

the job! yayyy. i got the job i got the job i got the job i got the job. I'm sososoo excited. I'll now be a histology technician at north kansas city hospital and no longer working through some shitty temp agency at some medical supply place being treated like shit. awesome! i didn't think the interview went so well, but ehhhh...guess they liked me enough to hire me. Having that letter of recommendation REALLY helped. It's 10-6:30 so no more of this 2:30-11pm bullcrap. awesome. I'm so stoked. It looks REALLY complicated though, but I guess thats how my other lab tech job looked at first so I'm hoping I'll catch on ok. I'll be dealing with putting skin cells on slides for doctors to look at. sweet.
Mitch and I are now gonna watch National Treasure. I thought it would be stupid but I keep hearing its good...so we'll see......

so whoa, a lot to update.
Mitch and I flew to Portland to see my parents over the thanksgiving day break and ohhh man. so much fun!
once again it just reminded me how much I absolutely love it there. One day we spent all day exploring downtown Portland by just taking the train and multiple buses. We even took a bus to check out foodfightgrocery and a sweet vegan chinese restaurant.
We also saw No Country for Old Men and The Mist which were both beyond great.

im skipping work today because i despise that place....and we're going to dave and busters for luke and rachelle's pre-wedding thing.
THREE more work days until Portland...I'm sosososososo excited no one can even understand.
There is actually supposed to be something like a snowstorm in Kansas City next wednesday....that's beyond insane. I'm used to wearing tank tops while putting up the christmas lights...argh, I kinda miss you California. Oh...and my boss quit at my old job....so there wouldn't even be that kind of security to go back to..... maybe that's a good thing?
I changed my layout because I was bored of the old one.... this one seems ok for now. Unless Sam wants to redo one for me? huh huh huh?
I'm starting to take pictures of the food I make, so I think I'll post them on here.

arghhhhhh the past few days have been a living hell.
I'm having the worst time EVER at work, the past couple of days I actually sat in my car and cried during break because I hate it so much. I'm even thinking about selling/giving my car to my parents and getting a super cheap one so I dont have to worry about payments and get a less paying job. I'm counting the fucking days till we go to Portland. I NEED A BREAK. On the bright side I applied for a job at a hospital out here as a lab tech..doubt they'll call me back but I'm secretly spending about 20% of every hour hoping they do.
Also, there has been this mom cat at our apartments that lives in the woods BEHIND our apartments, and has kittens that follow her around. We mostly see her at night time but we always talk about what a good mom she is and how cute it is that her kittens always follow her. Well yesterday Mitch found her ran fucking over beside his car. They even just left her little lifeless body there bleeding all over the fucking place. I hope those people die a horrible death. Mitch took her into the woods behind a lot of trees. I can't even explain how hurt this makes me.
Fuck asshole heartless people.

well, at least i now know how to make vegan hot chocolate now....
add cocoa powder and a little bit of sugar to heated soy milk.
yesterday I was driving home from work listening to some death cab for cutie, the roads were empty, then all of a sudden this car stopped beside me at a light and I started wondering what the driver of this car beside me was thinking. What things did he love? Did he miss anyone like I did? Why was he looking so lonely and lost, did he have anything to look forward to beside his favorite tv shows? What did he regret and yearn for? I find myself asking those questions of people more and more lately.

Anyway, I tried being more environmentally conscience with the kitty litter we buy so we picked up a bag of Yesterdays News, this recycled newspaper stuff that comes in little pellets. Well....the cats HATED it. Luna went so far as to poop in the bathtub WHILE I was watching confused as to why she was scratching at the sides of the tub. yup. Plus that stuff smelled really bad. We even tried to slowly mix it with the original clumping clay stuff we had been buying but it still didn't work. Oh well, I'll keep a lookout for anything else that seems workable.
Our apartment is a complete mess. Well not a COMPLETE mess, but it's pretty bad.

it's raining REALLY REALLY hard, i mean....i actually had to turn on lights in the apt because it's so dark. I want to call in to work sososooso bad, but i already called in yesterday. boooooooooooooo! stupid stupid stupid job.
yesterday i made seitan which turned out pretty good. i used vital wheat gluten instead of just flour which made things a heck of a lot easier.
anywayyyyy...tofu rules.
AND i saw that movie stranger than fiction with will ferrel and maggie gyllenhall (sp???), it was pretty good. I however didn't feel the need to cry at all...as a friend of mine did when Samantha, herself, and i watched it together. just a note...i didn't really watch it the first time since i fell asleep like 10 min into it. haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaha oops.

yesterday Mitch, his friend Luke, and I went to the renaissance fair out here. I never went to the one in california, so I wasn't really sure what to expect besides busty women in cleavage revealing dresses (which there was lotsss of) but it ruled!!!!! I honestly had a lot of fun and luckily the weather was in the low eighties so it was even better. They had these "barbarian battles" going on which Luke and Mitch love so they spent about an hour fighting each other with foam swords while various little kids ran up and hit them with their swords challenging them to a duel which was hillarious. I kept on thinking about how cool it would have been if sam went so we could duel each other...haha!!!
man i stillll don't really know what i want to do as a career. i'm pretty sure i dont want to go to school for 4 yrs tho = [ i was talking to my mom on the phone today and she suggested maybe doing something like radiology or along those lines... so i'll look into that.
i'm making pumpkin spice vegan cupcakes....soooo excitedddd.
ps. we are getting one medium size pumpkin and one tiny one, and painting them like the cats..except with fangs...haha!

I never really thought I was a New Found Glory fan...but after their latest release of "From the Screen to Your Stereo Part II" I think I'm in love. It's just a simple 11 song album with covers of classic movie songs. My absolute favorite is the cover of Lisa Loeb's Stay with her actually appearing on the track. It's really good. Some other great songs on there....

I went to the City Market with Mitch's mom Joy, and it ruleddddddddd. It's just this outdoor market place that has a lot of produce in the middle, and in the outer part of it is little cute shops. She got me tonssss of stuff...and everything was SUPER cheap since it's all locally grown or made.
Some of the things I got were:
2 Huge scoops of curry powder- $2
1 scoop of taco seasoning- $1
12 roma tomatoes- $1
8 tomatillos- $1
HUGE bundle of fresh basil- $1
soy pumpkin candle- $5
the pumpkin candle rules sososo much. AND if you pour the melted soy wax onto your hands (it's not that hot) and rub it on them like lotion, it makes your hands really silky smooth...so great.
anyway...I saw this online and I just had to post it...hillarious. It's a calendar of Moromon "hotties." Not my words at all. badbadbad. Sam might like tho...
